About the Procedure

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to change the shape and size of the nose. In the expert hands of Prof. Dr. Ilker Yazıcı, you can achieve natural-looking results that are in harmony with your face.

During the operation, the nasal bones and cartilage are reshaped. It is possible both to address aesthetic concerns and to resolve breathing problems. The surgical plan, designed individually for each patient, takes your facial proportions and personal preferences into account.

Are You a Candidate?

  • Facial growth is largely complete (typically 18 years or older).
  • Good overall health with no active uncontrolled medical conditions.
  • Non-smoker, or able to stop smoking at least 4 weeks before surgery.
  • A clear, specific concern about nasal shape, profile, or breathing function.
  • Realistic expectations: rhinoplasty refines and balances your features rather than changing your face.
  • Ability to commit to recovery — accepting roughly 2 weeks of social downtime and several months of subtle ongoing healing.

Recovery Timeline

  1. Day 1–3

A splint or cast is in place over the nose. Swelling and bruising are most pronounced; sleeping with the head elevated and applying cold compresses helps. Mild discomfort is well controlled with prescribed pain medication.

  2. Week 1

The external splint and any visible sutures are removed at day 7. The first version of the new nasal shape becomes visible, but it is not the final result because of ongoing swelling. Light walking is fine; strenuous activity is avoided.

  3. Week 2–3

Most bruising resolves. The majority of patients return to social life and desk-based work. Glasses pressing on the nasal bridge and contact sports are still avoided.

  4. Month 1

Roughly 80% of swelling has resolved. Light exercise can typically resume. Tip stiffness and tenderness begin to ease.

  5. Month 3–6

The nasal shape becomes progressively more refined. The tip softens and excess fullness fades. Follow-up examinations are usually scheduled in this window.

  6. Month 12

The final aesthetic result emerges. In patients with thicker nasal skin, the last refinements may continue up to 18 months as residual tip swelling resolves.

Risks and Potential Complications

  • Bleeding or hematoma formation, most commonly within the first 24–48 hours.
  • Infection (uncommon with appropriate antibiotic prophylaxis).
  • Individual reactions to general anesthesia.
  • Temporary, and rarely persistent, numbness or altered sensation around the nasal tip.
  • Prolonged swelling, particularly in patients with thicker nasal skin.
  • Minor asymmetry or an aesthetic outcome that differs from expectations.
  • In approximately 5–10% of cases, a revision procedure may be considered later.
  • Rarely, a change in breathing function (often addressed by performing septoplasty at the same time).

Cost and Pricing

Rhinoplasty pricing is personalized — publishing a single list price would be misleading. The main factors that determine your final fee include: the scope of the planned technique (open vs. closed approach, primary vs. revision case), whether additional functional work such as septoplasty or turbinate reduction is required, hospital and anesthesia fees, and the post-operative follow-up plan.

For a clear, written, personalized quote we recommend booking an in-person or online consultation with Prof. Dr. Ilker Yazıcı in Istanbul. During the consultation an examination is performed, a surgical plan is built around your goals, and the full cost — including, for international patients, package options that cover accommodation and airport transfers — is discussed transparently.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is rhinoplasty painful?

Because the operation is performed under general anesthesia, you do not feel any pain during surgery. Mild discomfort during recovery is controlled with pain medication.

How long does recovery take?

A splint is worn for the first week. You can return to social life after 2 weeks. Most swelling and bruising resolve in 2–3 weeks. The final result becomes visible within 6–12 months.

Are the results permanent?

Yes, rhinoplasty results are permanent. The nasal structure remains stable after surgery.

How much does rhinoplasty cost in Istanbul?

Rhinoplasty cost is personalized for each patient. The scope of the technique, whether additional septoplasty or turbinate work is needed, hospital fees, and post-operative follow-up all influence the price. For a clear, written quote we recommend booking an in-person or online consultation with Prof. Dr. Ilker Yazıcı, where a personalized plan and price are prepared based on your examination.

Am I a good candidate for rhinoplasty?

Good candidates have generally completed facial growth (typically 18 or older), are in good overall health, do not smoke (or can stop at least 4 weeks before surgery), have realistic expectations about results, and have specific aesthetic or functional concerns about the shape, profile, or breathing function of the nose. Final candidacy is determined during a clinical examination.

What is the rhinoplasty recovery timeline?

Swelling and bruising peak in the first 3 days. The splint and external sutures are removed at day 7. Most patients return to social life and desk work after 2–3 weeks. About 80% of swelling resolves in the first month; fine details continue to refine over 6–12 months.

What are the risks of rhinoplasty?

Like any surgical procedure, rhinoplasty has known risks: bleeding, infection, individual reactions to general anesthesia, asymmetry or an aesthetic outcome different from expectations, prolonged swelling or numbness, and rarely the need for a revision procedure. Your personal risk profile is reviewed in detail during consultation.

Note: Recovery time varies from person to person. The post-operative recovery process consists of several stages. The concept of recovery varies as well. Returning to work is also a form of recovery. The complete healing of scars is also part of the recovery process.
